Paston Surgery is participating in a new approach to help improve access for patients to GP appointments.
For a long time, we have tried to direct patients to the most appropriate healthcare professional and that could be a GP, Nurse or an HCA. From now on we also have the additional support of booked consultations with a Pharmacist.
From 26th May 2021, if your symptoms could be resolved by having a booked consultation with a Pharmacist instead of a GP, you will be given a same-day referral to a pharmacy of your choice. All pharmacies in North Walsham are participating in the scheme.
Pharmacists are very highly trained and skilled clinicians and experienced in treating minor illnesses. We think this is a great initiative and once you have had an appointment with a Pharmacist and seen how knowledgeable and great your local pharmacist is, we don’t think you’ll look back!
In addition, this also helps us to free up GP appointments for people with more complex health needs and ensure that everyone gets treated at the right time, by the right healthcare professional.
