Paston Surgery – 20th Sept 2021 – Flu and COVID Vaccination update and Blood Tests update

Flu Vaccinations

Although it now looks more positive in connection with flu vaccine delivery, the manufacturers are still advising us to not book clinics until we receive a formal notification of delivery.

We are still hoping our Clinic on 7th October 2021 will still go ahead with further Clinics to follow.

We will offer eligible patients their free vaccine as soon as we have certainty. Please do not call us and as soon as we can offer you the vaccination we will call you. Your understanding and patience is appreciated.

COVID Boosters

Many patients who have received two doses of COVID Vaccine will soon be offered a Booster (or third) dose. Eligible patients are:-

  • those living in residential care homes for older adults
  • all adults aged 50 years or over
  • frontline health and social care workers including those who work in residential and nursing homes for older adults
  • all those aged 16 to 49 years with underlying health conditions that put them at higher risk of severe COVID-19 and adult carers
  • adult household contacts of immunosuppressed individuals

Patients will be offered the Booster dose after a minimum of 6 months interval from their second dose. We currently are waiting for vaccine delivery.

Please do not contact us and as soon as we can offer you the Booster, we will be in contact. Again, thank you for your understanding and patience.

COVID doses 1 or 2

If you are over 18 years old and have not had your 1st or 2nd COVID dose you can still get one from a number of larger or walk in locations. Those aged 12 to 17 years are also eligible for a first dose.

For details of booking, please see the NHS website https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/who-can-get-the-vaccine

Details of local Walk-In centres are on the Norfolk County Council site https://apps.norfolk.gov.uk/WalkIn/

Blood Tests

The supply problem with test-tubes is shortly due to ease. As soon as we have restored supply we will clear the backlog and then restore normal service. This will hopefully happen over the next few weeks.
