In recent weeks, following the first dose of the AstraZeneca (AZ) COVID-19 vaccination, there have been a small number of reports from the UK and internationally of an extremely blood clot/platelet condition.
In context, it is very rare and affects around 4 people in every million doses of AZ vaccine that is given.
More details about the benefits and risks of the vaccination, what you should look out for after you have received your vaccination and what you should do next, can all be found on the following NHS/Public Health England information leaflet:
If you have already had a first dose of AZ without suffering any serious side effects, you should complete the course and attend your appointment for the 2nd vaccination.
Thank you.
